Anyone Have Aiha That Came On Suddenly
A myAIHAteam Member asked a question 💭

It came on suddenly over the course of 2 days heamoglobin dropped from 8 to 5 to 3.9 . Along with severe jaundice... obviously emergency admittance into hospital and several tests done.. nothing conculsive yet over 10 transfusions done and they are helping elevate levels up to a 6 or 7... what have your experiences been ? How long were your stays ? Treatments found or causes if any ?

Any thing that could shed alight would be greatly appreciated

I had Jaundice too as not only is Hemoglobin low,but it may be damaged Folate is stored in Hemoglobin,so take it daily with your Docs help.Your DNA is affected and you are VERY sick and at risk for Sepsis which is common in ICU's.When I was young we had Blood Smears as the main test for EVERY Doctor visit which detected Red Cell disorders.Today,it is more difficult to diagnose Aytpical Anemias, which are common with Long COVID.DO NOT TAKE IRON as it can harm the liver, with this condition. You also need Vit.B-12 as Methyl Folate and P-5-P for Vit B-6.I take very day-check Amazon and the reviews for Folate and B-12 by users as they can be very useful for you,and let me know, and your Doc.Avoid all Sulfa drugs, foods and supplements as this condition is usualy due to a genetic disorder called G6PD Defciency, which is common.,but not usually known. It runs in Families, can cause Sepsis and Kidney Failure.

I was quite healthy until I had my 4th Covid vaccine and wondered if this triggered the disease

Loss of Red Cells causes low Hram and it takes time to get new ones-about 1 1/2 mo.This causes jaundice and low energy.Ask your Dic to check G6PD Defciiency which causes this from certain drugs as Cipro and TMZ/Bactrim.Beans and Night Shades.People with MTHFR-1 are sensitive, and this can be serious and cause Sepsis.

Hi MariaBeecham
I am worried also about this. Can the Covid Vaccine cause this AIHA! To us? And I went and did another in Oct 2023. And a Flueshot for the winter. I want to check blood tests, when I did my last blood tests and when I caught this AIHA. What meds are you on now? And are they helping you?
